CAFE HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA An Evening of Music and Merriment @ THE BOWIE CENTER FOR PERFOMING ARTS December 11th @ 7:30pm
Bowie, MD – As an early holiday gift of thanks to our community, The Bowie Center for the Performing Arts and CAFE (Cultural Academy for Excellence) deliver a wondrous evening of music on Wednesday, December 11th, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. “Offering an evening of music to our friends and neighbors is a special joy,” says The Bowie Center’s Executive Director, Jason Cook, “and underscores our community commitment in a most wonderful way. It’s especially gratifying to be able to do this at holiday time, and we look forward to seeing longtime patrons and new faces here next week.” The musical performances, curated by CAFÉ’s Chief Executive Officer, Lorna Green, and Artistic Director, Josanne Francis and Co Director, Aviel Scanterbury, CAFE’ Holiday Extravaganza entertainment is comprised of four groups and nearly 50 performers who will grace the Bowie Center’s stage: Positive Vibrations Youth Steel Orchestra, CAFE Rhythm Starters, Queens Manor Rising Stars, The Pantones Adult Orchestra, Special Guests: Paramin Parang Posse. “The musical genres span traditional Christmas music, Classical, R&B, jazz, and calypso and parang,” Ms. Green says, and will appeal to people across our community, just as the musicians themselves include performers of every age group. Everyone is welcome, and everyone will have a marvelous time!” she is quick to add. CAFÉ is a youth-based program which uses the performing arts as the catalyst to develop the passion and discipline for learning, leadership and academic achievement. Led by Ms. Green, this nonprofit organization’s staff includes educators, college tutors, and performing artists alike.
